By default, all new Blackboard courses are unavailable to students. Those listed as Instructor will see (unavailable) next to their course name when they log into Blackboard. That means that instructors can access their courses and upload content, but that they’re currently hidden to students.
It is the responsibility of the instructor to make their course available to students at the beginning of the semester. Here’s how:
1. Go into the course site you wish to activate.
2. Go to the Control Panel underneath the Course Menu.
3. In the Control Panel’s Course Options box, select Settings.
4. Select Course Availability from the menu.
5. Select Yes, then click Submit.
As always, if you have questions, email us at blackboard@stonybrook.edu or call 631-632-2777.
Thank you, and have a great semester!

That’s probably because your instructors haven’t made the courses available to students yet. They’ll need to follow the instructions above to do so.
If you have any questions, contact the Student Help Desk at 632-9602 or helpme@stonybrook.edu.
Thanks,

I’m not enrolled in LIN 200 for fall but I do need to download information from its Blackboard site. How do I go about doing this?
Posted 03 Sep 2008 at 9:42 am ¶this is a student takig CHE 321 class.
I have a problem. I changed my section number. However, blackboard does not show changed section. It keeps showing old section number. Maybe that is why I have not resistered my clicker.
Posted 03 Sep 2008 at 4:57 pm ¶I changed my section from 81834 to 89225.
Please let me know how to fix it.
Thank you.
I recently dropped one class in exchange for another class. SOLAR shows the swap was a success. However, on my blackboard, I am still getting announcements from the dropped class and am not getting the announcements from the newly added class, even though the teacher has a blackboard account set up. What do I do?
Posted 04 Sep 2008 at 5:56 pm ¶I am unable to access the class notes under blackboard. I get a message stating that I am forbidden. Why is this? I am registered in the class.
Posted 05 Sep 2008 at 8:55 am ¶When are we gonna get personalized RSS feeds of our course’s announcements, calendar events, and assignments? that would REALLY be useful.
I’d even settle for an email notice. I just can’t stand missing assignments because I didn’t check blackboard often enough.
Posted 06 Sep 2008 at 10:23 am ¶I just changed my math class from calculus to introduction to calculus however i dont see the course on my page.
Posted 06 Sep 2008 at 10:27 pm ¶Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in answering, we’re not receiving email notifications for comments.
1. If you are registered for a course but it doesn’t appear on Blackboard, contact your instructor and ask if they’ve made the course available for students. If they don’t understand, they can contact us.
2. If you’ve changed sections, there is a 24-hour lag between registration and Blackboard. If you do not see your registered course in Blackboard in 24 hours, please contact the Student Help Desk at 632-9602 or helpme(at)stonybrook.edu.
3. If you are not being removed from a dropped or swapped class, let us know.
4. If you are not enrolled in a course officially, but need Blackboard access, contact the instructor of that course. It’s up to them to put you in the class.
5. Unfortunately, RSS feeds are not yet available for Blackboard content additions. Instructors can send an email to the class when they post an announcement, or send emails using the Email tool, but that’s about it. We will let everyone know if this feature becomes available in the future.
