SafeAssign update

Thank you for your patience regarding Saturday’s SafeAssign outage.  The upgrade was successful, but the new features detailed in the previous announcement have not been implemented yet.  We’re currently working on installing and testing these new features.  Please continue to use SafeAssign as you have been, and we will announce when the new features are ready for use.

I was just trying to upload a paper for one of my classes and when I hit the submit button, I received a message saying that there was an error with sending the paper. I’ve used Safe Assign before and I know that I have to convert my paper to .doc, and so I double checked and tried it twice more. Is there something that I am doing wrong? Is there a different way of using Safe Assign with a Mac compared to a PC?

    Thank you,
    Amanda

    Hi Amanda,

SafeAssign is used the same way on both Macs and PCs.

Try saving the paper in another format, such as rich text (.rtf) or plain text (.txt). Or, convert it to a PDF (.pdf). Do you still get an error message when you try to submit?

If so, try using a different browser. For example, if you normally use Safari, try using Firefox instead.

If that doesn’t work, try a different computer.

If all else fails, please send the following information to the Student Help Desk at helpme@stonybrook.edu:

    1. Where you are using Blackboard (ie. specific SINC site, your personal computer, on campus, off campus, etc.)
    2. Which operating system (ie. Mac OS X, Windows Vista, etc.)
    3. Which browser (ie. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari)
    4. Course number (ie. BIO 101.01)
    5. Name of assignment (ie. Midterm Essay)
    6. The error message you receive, word-for-word. You may copy and paste it from Blackboard into your email.

    Thanks!
    Andrea
